The President of the Board of CityMusic Cleveland, Ronald A. Strauss, has announced the appointment of Avner Dorman as the new Music Director of CityMusic Cleveland Chamber Orchestra. Dorman's tenure will be through June, 2016. He plans to make his first appearance in Cleveland as the orchestra's second music director in October. His appointment coincides with the upcoming celebration of CityMusic Cleveland's 10th-Anniversary Season.

The 38 year-old Dorman, a native of Israel, said in a statement "I am very excited to be selected as Music Director of CityMusic Cleveland. I really admire the mission of this chamber orchestra, through the offering of free concert opportunities for listeners of all ages and also how they have provided opportunities for living composers like myself to be heard and involved in programming. My goals are to create beautiful performances for the Cleveland community to enjoy, to expose more Cleveland school children to orchestral music, and possibly record some of my own works with this orchestra in the future."

Trustee President Dr. Ronald Strauss says Dorman's "unique creativity and visionary instincts will bring a remarkable inspiration" to the orchestra. Mr. Dorman is well known as a composer, and with his appointment he follows in the footsteps of other composer such as Benjamin Britten, Esa–Pekka Salonen, and John Adams.
