The Grawemeyer Award winning composition let me tell you is now available on CD. The high quality German record label Winter & Winter have already released four CDs with music by Hans Abrahamsen, and can be considered specialists recording the fragile sound world of the Danish composer.
let me tell you is written for the soprano Barbara Hannigan and was commissioned by The Berlin Philharmonic who premiered the work in December 2013. Since then Hannigan has given almost 20 performances of the work and will be giving the US premiere on January 14 with conductor Frans Welser-Möst and The Cleveland Orchestra.
The CD includes a text from Paul Griffiths which is based on Ophelia’s words in Shakespeare’s Hamlet. let me tell you has received rave reviews as well as the Royal Philharmonic Society Award 2015 for Large Scale Composition.
On the new CD Barbara Hannigan performs let me tell you with conductor Andris Nelsons, who also conducted the world premiere in 2013. The orchestra is the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. The CD will be available from January 8.
