Helen Grime Violin Concerto premiere

Helen Grime Violin Concerto premiere
Daniel Harding will conduct the world premiere of a new Violin Concerto by Helen Grime in Stockholm’s Berwald Hall on December 15. The piece has been commissioned by the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and its soloist will be the orchestra’s leader, Malin Broman. A second performance will take place in Berwald Hall the following evening, December 16.
The premiere of the concerto comes at the end of a busy year for Helen Grime, which has seen her announcement as Composer in Residence at Wigmore Hall, a double premiere at the BBC Proms, the US premiere of A Cold Spring and performances at Heimbach Festival in Germany, where she was featured composer. Following the premiere of her Two Eardley Pictures at the Proms this summer, the Sunday Times wrote that “[Grime] has as precise an ear as any contemporary composer I can think of, and the two scores’ play of texture offered the combined pleasures of a crowded canvas and a rare vertical translucency.”
