'Runaway Overture' Film with Live Orchestra

Be enthralled by the new film from Filmelodic, Runaway Overture, accompanied live by the Philharmonia Orchestra of New York. With no spoken dialogue, Richard Wagner's Overture to Tannhäuser and the visual language of film combine to open up the world of classical music to newer, younger, and more diverse audiences. In Runaway Overture, a young artist (Erin E. McGuff) leaves her home to follow a dream, while an aging painter (Tony D. Head) struggles to let go of his.
Rich repertoire combined with film is part of the Philharmonia Orchestra of New York's spring festival, Symphonic Storyboards, bringing masterpieces to life on the big screen. Runaway Overture was selected from among 130 entrants to the orchestra's first-ever film competition for filmmakers interested in creating original films for screening to live performances of Wagner.
Two other films created by Adam Grannick and the Filmelodic studio are available from Schirmer Theatrical: Last Night's Symphonie, to music from Symphonie Fantastique by Hector Berlioz, and Sam and Barb's School for Scandal, commissioned by G. Schirmer for Samuel Barber's Overture to The School for Scandal.
